Introduction

The Madhya Pradesh Judicial Service Examination, commonly known as the MP PCS (J) Civil Judge Examination, is organized by the Madhya Pradesh High Court to identify and recruit qualified candidates for the position of Civil Judge Grade II.

 Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the MP Judiciary Exam, candidates must meet the following requirements:

 

- Citizenship: Must be a citizen of India.

- Advocacy Experience: Candidates must have practiced as an Advocate for a minimum of 3 years by the application deadline. Exceptional law graduates with outstanding academic records may also be considered.

- Academic Performance: Candidates must have passed all exams on their first attempt, securing a minimum of 70% marks for General and OBC categories. For SC and ST categories, at least 50% aggregate marks are required during the 3 to 5 years of the law degree.

- Age Limit: Candidates must adhere to the age limits set by the conducting body, with a minimum age of 21 years as of January 1, 2023, and a maximum age of 35 years. Age relaxation is provided for certain categories as per government norms.

 MP Judiciary Selection Process

The selection process for the MP Judiciary Exam consists of the following stages:

1. Prelims Exam: The initial phase involves an online test comprising 150 multiple-choice questions worth 150 marks. Candidates who meet the cut-off marks will qualify for the Mains Exam.

2. Mains Exam: This second phase utilizes a descriptive testing method. It consists of four papers totaling 400 marks, with each paper carrying 100 marks. Candidates achieving the required cut-off in this section will proceed to the Interview stage.

3. Interview: This final stage evaluates candidates on their general knowledge, legal standards, and overall suitability. Conducted for a maximum of 50 marks, candidates must score at least 40% (20 marks) to qualify. The final selection will be based solely on the Mains Exam and Interview scores.

Madhya Pradesh Judiciary Syllabus 2024 For Mains Exam

The MP Judiciary Mains Examination for 2024 consists of four papers, each carrying 100 marks and being essay-based. The topics covered in the papers include Constitution of India & MP Constitution, Code of Civil Procedure, 1908, Indian Evidence Act, 1872, and Writing Skill and Court Practice. Successful candidates from the preliminary exam will be allowed to give the main examination.
