Jharkhand Judiciary

Introduction

The Jharkhand High Court organizes the Jharkhand Judicial Service Examination 2024 annually to recruit qualified candidates for the positions of Civil Judge in the Junior Division.

 

 Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Jharkhand Judicial Service Exam, candidates must meet the following requirements:

- Hold a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a university recognized by the Bar Council of India.

- Be enrolled as an Advocate by the deadline for submitting applications, maintaining valid and active registration.

- Candidates with suspended registrations are not permitted to sit for the exam.

- Applicants must be Indian citizens with a clean moral character, free from any criminal records.

- The age limit for candidates ranges from a minimum of 22 years to a maximum of 35 years, as specified in the high court notice.

- Female candidates, as well as those belonging to Scheduled Tribes or Scheduled Castes, can receive a 3-year extension on the upper age limit.

 Exam Pattern

The selection process for the Jharkhand Judiciary Recruitment comprises a written examination divided into two main parts: the Preliminary Exam and the Mains Exam, followed by a final interview or personality test.

 

 Preliminary Examination

- The Preliminary Exam is a written test featuring objective or multiple-choice questions, carrying a total of 100 marks with no negative marking.

- The duration of the exam is 2 hours.

- Successful candidates from the Preliminary Exam will qualify for the Mains Exam.

 Mains Examination

The Mains Exam consists of four papers, each worth 100 marks, with a total of 400 marks. Each paper lasts 3 hours, and the viva voce (oral test) is conducted separately.

- The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973

Paper II (100 Marks)

- The Transfer of Property Act, 1882

- The Contract Act, 1872

- The Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996

- The Sales of Goods Act, 1930

- The Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881

Paper III (100 Marks)

- Mohammedan Law and Hindu Law

- Jurisprudence

- The Specific Relief Act, 1963

- Rent Control Law

Paper IV (100 Marks)

- English and Hindi Language Test, including translation, paraphrasing, precise writing, and essay writing.

 

 Interview

The viva-voce test carries a weight of 100 marks. To qualify, candidates in the General Category must score at least 25% of the total marks, while candidates from SC/ST/EBC/OBC categories need a minimum of 20%.
